Choose your fast
Fasting plans
The type of fast you choose is based on your relationship with God. The goal is not legalistic effort—it is increased intimacy with the Father.
How do I select?
Your fast is a private decision, shared with others for accountability, not boasting. If you break your fast before the seven days end, simply repent and keep going.
Mix & match
Pick one type for all seven days, or combine—for example, a Daniel Fast for the first four days, then liquids only for the last three. Whatever you choose, honor your commitment before the Lord.
Not a complete guide
These four options give direction, not a comprehensive rulebook. Do everything within your capacity to honor the Lord through the week.
01
Liquids Only
No solid food is consumed. Two common versions: (1) Water only. (2) 100% fruit and vegetable juice, smoothies, broths, and teas.
02
The Daniel Fast
You consume only fruits and vegetables. Two common versions: (1) Remove all meat (some also remove dairy, alcohol, desserts, and rich foods). (2) A vegan diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and juices—avoiding processed items, preferring raw foods.
03
One Meal a Day
Eat only one meal a day. Two variations: (1) Eat one meal at any time during the day. (2) Eat one meal at the same time every day.
04
The Absolute Fast
No solid food or liquids are consumed. An absolute fast is physically demanding and should be pursued only at the leading of the Holy Spirit—and for a limited window within the week.
Medical considerations. If you have any medical conditions, consult your doctor to make sure you are in medical compliance before beginning a fast.
